About the Band

The Celtic Hooligans were formed in 2009 by singer/guitarist Michael "Mick" Dunlavey and Bodhran drummer Tommy Wilkinson. Eventually Scotsman Randall "Merf " McCaslin joined Tommy and Mick with his banjo and mandolin. The trio took Erie by storm with their great ceol (music) and craic (fun) playing in numerous Irish festivals in the Northwestern PA and western NY region.

Sadly Tommy passed away in 2015. Welshman singer/guitarist Paul Rogers joined the group later that year and in 2016 professional fiddler Louis Nicolia added his great sound to the band. Don Wisniewski, an expert accordion player, accompanied the band from 2016-2018. In August of 2018, Brian Gray, an accomplished musician brought his unique blend of bagpipes, accordion, and vocals to the group.

Our music is a mix of traditional instrumental session tunes and folksongs, greatly influenced by classic Irish Bands such as The Dubliners, The Clancy Brothers, Tommy Makem and The Chieftains. Instruments include the penny whistle, bodhran, fiddle, accordion, banjo, guitar, mandolin, and Scottish bagpipes.

If you would love traditional Irish music at your party, wedding, or event contact us today! We also offer a special 90 cultural theater performance entitled "A History of Ireland in Song and Story".
